The local railroad union office also has a statuette of Garcia Corona a plaque explaining his bravery.<br />Interesting stuff!Adrian Reynoldshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14735533732817057147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985623786044384912.post-39369889865066968712009-08-18T11:56:28.727-05:002009-08-18T11:56:28.727-05:00Ruth,

I have been studying Spanish for over ten year and I am still making slow and steady progress. I learn something new every day. It's a good thing :)Bob Mrotekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15016079751197723749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985623786044384912.post-57993551277313545422009-08-18T11:49:03.025-05:002009-08-18T11:49:03.025-05:00I am trying to learn Spanish and am making slow bu...I am trying to learn Spanish and am making slow but steady progress. Our light rail train system has announcements in Spanish and English. Last weekend I was on the train for an hour and by the time I got to my destination I knew how to say the doors are on my right and the doors are on my left and also "be careful." Repetition is a good learning tool.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17450666249902130422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985623786044384912.post-60417562890175070582009-08-16T15:43:38.568-05:002009-08-16T15:43:38.568-05:00Gloria,

I have been tricked many times myself. I am always tickled when someone says, "Oh, Spanish is easy. I remember it from high school and I more or less understand it pretty well." Then you ask them to tell you what they think a conversation is about and they are way off the mark because they have been listening for "false friends" and getting it wrong :)Bob Mrotekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15016079751197723749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985623786044384912.post-6821905680304627542009-08-16T15:29:58.473-05:002009-08-16T15:29:58.473-05:00Part of my Spanish-learning efforts are focused th...Part of my Spanish-learning efforts are focused this year on the nuances of difference in Spanish words, that might look like cognates but aren't. When I see the word "competencia" for instance, I don't think of competition, but rather the ability to just function successfully. (Maybe I'm influenced by my mom's Alzheimer's) So I'm grateful for your observations, amigo, and those of my maestra. You both help me weed out words that don't mean what I think they do, and learn to use them appropriately.1st Matehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05276608080436409432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985623786044384912.post-83571839203168738922009-08-15T22:58:07.823-05:002009-08-15T22:58:07.823-05:00GO GINA, GO!!
